TOUR VLOG - WEEK FIVE
I'm sorry this has taken so long! Like I've said, River closed one of his cars in my laptop after one of our bus movie nights watching Frozen and so my computer has been out of commission until late last week. It was really frustrating that I got behind but I am determined to have these all completed even if they are lightyears late. All that said, here is week 5! We went to my new FAVORITE restaurant out in a cabin in the middle of nowhere outside of Montreal, we enjoyed sev

DUBAI PART I: THE BURJ KHALIFA
THE BURJ KHALIFA Here we are at the The Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. When we came up the elevator, we were greeted with mint lemonade and macaroons which I am not mad about. It was very peaceful up on the top but also slightly disorienting. You have to take multiple elevators to get to the top because there isn't one that stretches long enough. There are 57 elevators in the Burj Khalifa and according to the operator, none of them have ever broken down, I t

SMOKE+MIRRORS EU & U.K. TOUR: OSLO, NORWAY
I'm kicking off my throwback of the European/U.K. Smoke + Mirrors Tour with some photos from our day in Oslo, Norway. It rained pretty hard that day but the women of my bus: Aja, Marilyn, Emily and the two babes were able to walk through a beautiful part of town that I had never seen before (even though this was at least my third trip to Oslo). We made it to the Royal Palace and boy was it a beaut! We stayed for a while, exploring the grounds. River got pretty tired and crank

SMOKE+MIRRORS N.A. TOUR: DENVER AND RIVER'S BIRTHDAY
Our little River turned one on one of the last days of tour. Unfortunately, his birthday fell on a day that we were stuck driving in the bus until late afternoon but we made it work. Once we got to Denver, River and I dropped our luggage off and went for a walk downtown. It was beautiful weather and the city was full of very colorful people. We grabbed a smoothie to split and took in the last hours of sunshine. Obviously River didn't know that it was his birthday and there wa

SMOKE+MIRRORS N.A. TOUR: HOTEL ROOM FUN
We didn't bring toys for River on this tour which is kind of a miracle seeing how he is now, always with a car in hand. So he entertained himself by playing with our suitcases and wearing us out. The most terrifying thing about the idea of touring with two kids is the amount of stuff, especially because of River's current car/truck obsession. The amount of times you have to carry your suitcases in and out of venues and hotels is ridiculous. And don't get me started on all the

GROW TOGETHER
On Valentine's Day, Wayne and I saw the movie "La La Land." I held out seeing it because everybody loved it so much and the rebel in me hates things like that (cue Seinfeld clip). But in the back of my mind, I knew I wanted to see it and heaven knows I love a good musical. Wayne took a bit of convincing but I put on the charm and away we went. **Don't read any further if you don't want spoilers. And if you haven't seen it yet for the reason listed above, you're a stronger per

SMOKE+MIRRORS N.A. TOUR: NEW ORLEANS
On this tour, we were able to go to New Orleans which is always one of my favorite cities to travel to. We usually get to eat amazing food and walk the one-of-a-kind town. This trip was no exception. Only problem was the scorching temperature. The South in the summer is no joke! We started the day with brunch. River did great at the restaurant (which is always a win) and flirted with everyone around our table. We then went for a long walk back to the hotel. I would have persu

SMOKE+MIRRORS N.A. TOUR: LIFE ON THE BUS
Every tour is different, a different bus, always at least a few different people, though you have a lot of the 'greatest hits' that are always there and that brings comfort. This tour was a big shift for me because I went from being my carefree self, adventuring on my own, sleeping on the band bus, staying up until 3, sleeping in until noon to bringing a newly crawling 10-month-old baby, sleeping on his schedule, moving to the family bus and finding a completely new tour gro

SMOKE+MIRRORS N.A. TOUR: FORT LAUDERDALE
Here we go with another North American Tour post. A day off in Florida meant chilling at the beach in the back of our hotel. It wasn't glamorous. The "beach" itself was actually a very small entrance to a bay and of course it rained pretty hard most of the day (like it always seems to do when we are in Florida) but we got a few hours to relax on the sand and it was just what the doctor ordered. After we splashed around, River took a nap (**thank you for watching him Marilyn)
