THE BAY WITH THE BOYS
I just found these pics of the boys and I playing in the bay from about a month ago while Wayne was still out of town. Both our boys are fairly timid around water (especially River) but I was so impressed to see them going right in to splash around. River stood in the same spot the entire time and watched the water roll over his collection of cars he brought while Wolfie ran up and down the coastline, falling head first in several times, only to pop back up and continue playi

STRIPED AND OFF THE SHOULDER
Went to the beach with my sissy, Danica last week before our trip to Utah. I am not gonna lie, it felt good to take advantage of having a sitter and taking some time to relax kid-free at the beach before our trip to Utah. Little did I know how needed that break would be. The boys did great on our trip but even happy toddlers are WILD toddlers. I had my mom and sister with me and it was still an exhausting experience but we had a great time. ORANGE ONE-PIECE
One-piece swimsuits have become my best friend this summer. I feel so comfortable running around in them when I am with the boys and I am so happy to see that they are back in style (aka there are finally cute options out there). Don't get me wrong, I love a good bikini as much as the next girl, especially for a low key afternoon. However, It is one thing for your stomach to look good when you are laying out but it a whole other thing to have a good looking stomach when you'

BEACH MAYHEM
Here are about a hundred million photos of the boys and I at the beach. My mom and I took the kiddos to Lemonade to grab dinner a couple nights ago and the plan was to picnic it up on the beach but once the boys hit the sand they went WILD and getting through a meal was not an option. I used to be able to take them to the beach by myself but they (eh hem I'm looking at you Wolfie) are going through a stage where they run in different directions and let's just say it's getting

BEACH AFTERNOON AND THE MORNING AFTER
The afternoon hours can be tricky as a parent. Our boys want to be out of the house and a lot of the time, I want to be getting things done around the house. They usually win and my favorite place to take them is the beach. They love that I give them the independence to go further away me then I would normally let them because the beach is pretty empty by our house and the land is flat so I can see them from a distance. They play together, pouring sand on one another's head,

SUNSET
If my kids could live outdoors, they would. I'm guessing that is common with children, maybe the fresh air and constant possibility of stumbling upon an adventure fuels their tiny little bodies. Or possibly, for us, it's just that we gave our kids nature names ;) We are so fortunate to live close to the beach and as often as we can, we run outside to snag those last moments before the sun hits the water. Golden Hour (the hour or so after sunrise and the hour or so before suns

WOLFIE'S FIRST BIRTHDAY
Yesterday was Wolfie's first birthday! Wayne was supposed to be in Vegas recording so we decided to keep things mellow but the night before he surprised us and flew home. Greatest present ever! The next morning we took the boys out to a park we had never been to and let them run wild in the sand. It was freezing but they had a blast. Before bed, my mom came over and Wolfie tried his first cupcake. He much preferred squishing it through his fingers over eating it. The sugar ga

PHO-N AT THE BEACH
Wayne and I went for lunch at our favorite Vietnamese spot, Saigon Beach located on the Balboa Peninsula. They put a spin on some of the more traditional dishes. I usually get a banh mi sandwich that you can dip into a small bowl of pho broth, their version of a french dip. It's divine. They also have Pho puns written all over their walls so I thought I would honor them with my post title;) After we ate, we went for a quick very chilly walk on the beach. I love the beach in w

SAN DIEGO TRIP
A couple days after Christmas We traveled down the coast to San Diego for a few days to hang with Wayne's parents, siblings and all the nieces and nephews. Sixteen of them in fact. We had a blast spending time with everyone. The group is somewhat scattered across the west so we cherish all these little trips together. I think this is the third time almost all the family has met up in the last 6 months so we are lucky to do this fairly often. Pretty impressive with how many pe
